Finance Manager

Canada's Ocean Supercluster in Multiple Locations
Halifax, NS | Charlottetown, PE | St. John's, NL | Fredericton, NB

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, you will join the supercluster at an exciting time as we shape what is required from our finance and accounting function to support and enable the organization to be successful. As the Finance Manager, you will both lead and undertake elements of budgeting, forecasting, reporting, claims management, project tracking/reporting and other facets of the financial operations of the supercluster. You will also assist with special projects and help to identify and drive ongoing improvements to financial operations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and undertake efforts related to financial operations of the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, claims management, accounting, and project tracking/reporting
  • Perform ongoing monitoring, KPI gathering and reporting, to the supercluster management, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders as required
  • Develop, implement and maintain accounting and administrative controls, policies and procedures in line with best practices
  • Lead financial reporting
  • Coordinate with and support the external auditors in the supercluster's audit
  • Contribute to strategic planning
  • Supervise and manage finance and accounting staff
  • Provide financial support to projects and project teams
  • Assist the CAO in the general operations of the organization

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • ~5-7 years of financial management experience
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, with ability to meet tight deadlines when required
  • Comfortable working and collaborating both virtually and remotely with others
  • A track record of working in a high-paced environment focused on delivering results
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • CPA accounting designation, with proficiency in corporate accounting and GAAP
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Strong working knowledge of grant and/or project-based accounting/reporting
