Cluster Workforce Development Specialist 

This is an exciting role that will help continue to shape workforce growth at Canada’s national ocean cluster and across the ocean economy, while also working to engage youth and diverse populations to continue to shape a robust, inclusive, and diverse talent pipeline. 

Reporting to, and working with, our Director of Cluster Workforce Growth, the successful candidate will build opportunities to connect new talent to the vast opportunities in the Ocean Economy. As a talent research expert in the blue economy, the Cluster Workforce Development Specialist will help drive the OSC workforce agenda by supporting key talent pipeline reports, projects, and initiatives, already underway. Additionally, generating and refreshing Talent ecosystem reports will comprise a portion of the portfolio, including gap analysis recommendations to build on infrastructure currently in place. 

We are looking for the next Talent team member to join us at OSC to support current ocean economy Talent programming by targeted national ocean workforce campaigns.  This role will lead talent matching initiatives across our membership to early career professionals and mid-career pivots in addition to making recommendations for a suitable talent matching database.  

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Support the team with social media posting content related to talent program outreach 
  • Assist with onboarding and day-to-day check-ins with co-op students 
  • Support the documentation and tracking of all OSC talent projects and initiatives 
  • Facilitate matchmaking of new talent to our membership 
  • Undertake research related to trends in talent attraction and transformation within the ocean economy 
  • Support the development of collaborative and inclusive talent initiatives, workshops, and projects of the OSC. 
  • Support the relationship management of our portfolio of talent attraction and development projects, including preparing progress reports for the OSC Board of Directors, and overall support for project teams 
  • Support meeting and workshop delivery on talent topics for our membership 

What you bring: 

  • Experience supporting programs or enhancing elements of existing programs/policies 
  • Familiarity with (or experience) establishing and executing workforce strategies  
  • Desire to work in an environment which requires you to research, report, and develop presentations based on your findings 
  • Experience working both with senior teams and junior staff members to achieve objectives. 
  • Ability to connect and easily forge relationships with staff to help us all reach our Ambition 2035 goals 
  • Comfortable working entirely remotely and engaging effectively in a virtual environment with key stakeholders 
  • A self-starter, who can work independently to successfully deliver outcomes across several projects 

Ideal Additional Qualifications: 

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience or certification in talent or workforce development  
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience or certification in data analytics and/or project management
