This Nova Scotia-led project will bring together academia, government, and the private sector to develop and commercialize two breakthrough technologies to produce an environmentally sustainable and low-cost protein for the aquaculture industry while reducing oil and gas emissions.<\/p>\n<p>This game-changing project represents significant developments in science and technology and has never been done before. The Sustainable Protein for Aquaculture project will take greenhouse gas emissions from upstream oil and gas and convert them into a high-value protein product to be used to feed farmed fish.<\/p>\n<p>The Sustainable Protein for Aquaculture Project is led by DeNova, in collaboration with the Center for Aquaculture Technologies Canada, Natural Products Canada, Dalhousie University, the National Research Council of Canada, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and Cooke Aquaculture.<\/p>\n<p>With a total project value of $6 million, the Ocean Supercluster will provide almost $2.6 million with the balance of funding coming from project partners.<br \/>\nThe Sustainable Protein for Aquaculture Project will put Atlantic Canada at the forefront of the alternative and sustainable protein sector while reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to sustainable growth of Canada\u2019s ocean economy. Ce projet dirig\u00e9 par la Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse rassemblera des universit\u00e9s, des gouvernements et des membres du secteur priv\u00e9 en vue de d\u00e9velopper et de commercialiser deux technologies r\u00e9volutionnaires afin de produire une prot\u00e9ine durable respectueuse de l\u2019environnement \u00e0 faible co\u00fbt pour l\u2019industrie de l\u2019aquaculture tout en r\u00e9duisant les \u00e9missions de gaz et de p\u00e9trole.<\/p>\n<p>Ce projet novateur repr\u00e9sente des d\u00e9veloppements consid\u00e9rables dans le domaine de la science et de la technologie et n\u2019a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 fait auparavant.
