Dirig\u00e9 par eDNAtec Inc., de concert avec ses partenaires Energy Research &amp; Innovation Newfoundland &amp; Labrador, Nunavut Fisheries Association et P\u00eaches et Oc\u00e9ans Canada, le syst\u00e8me OceanDNA r\u00e9volutionnera la fa\u00e7on d\u2019\u00e9valuer, de surveiller et de caract\u00e9riser l\u2019oc\u00e9an.<\/p>\n<p>De la valeur totale du projet de 4,9 millions de dollars, Supergrappe des oc\u00e9ans fournira un financement de 2,2 millions de dollars pour compl\u00e9ter le solde du financement provenant de partenaires de l\u2019industrie. Dix-sept emplois appuieront directement les activit\u00e9s de recherche et d\u00e9veloppement reli\u00e9s au syst\u00e8me OceanDNA. De plus, des \u00e9tudiants ayant obtenu un dipl\u00f4me universitaire auront \u00e9galement l\u2019occasion de s\u2019impliquer dans le projet pour leur permettre d\u2019acqu\u00e9rir des comp\u00e9tences et de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience dans ce domaine.<\/p>\n<p>Le syst\u00e8me OceanDNA offre des applications \u00e0 travers des secteurs oc\u00e9aniques et il pourrait \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour faciliter la gestion durable des oc\u00e9ans et des activit\u00e9s connexes. En lisant l\u2019ADN d\u2019\u00e9chantillons environnementaux, tels que les s\u00e9diments ou l\u2019eau de mer, on peut identifier une vaste gamme d\u2019organismes \u00e0 partir de bact\u00e9ries jusqu\u2019aux mammif\u00e8res marins. Cela donne alors une image compl\u00e8te de l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me. La technologie eDNAtec r\u00e9alise des r\u00e9ductions de co\u00fbts \u00e9prouv\u00e9s, renforce la g\u00e9rance de l\u2019environnement, rehausse la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et prend en charge la conformit\u00e9 r\u00e9glementaire.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019activit\u00e9 du projet sera dirig\u00e9e \u00e0 partir du Centre for Environmental Genomics Applications (CEGA) d\u2019eDNAtec \u00e0 St. John\u2019s \u00e0 Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador en collaboration avec des partenaires du projet en vue de d\u00e9velopper et de commercialiser des solutions g\u00e9nomiques pour moderniser la fa\u00e7on dont nous surveillons, mesurons et \u00e9valuons les stocks de poissons. Les donn\u00e9es d\u2019ADN de l\u2019environnement peuvent \u00e9galement \u00eatre combin\u00e9es \u00e0 des donn\u00e9es compl\u00e9mentaires provenant de l\u2019acoustique, la t\u00e9l\u00e9d\u00e9tection, les d\u00e9nombrements par des activit\u00e9s de p\u00eache ainsi que la connaissance historique pour g\u00e9n\u00e9rer des mod\u00e8les pr\u00e9dictifs de la pr\u00e9sence, l\u2019emplacement et l\u2019abondance des esp\u00e8ces cibles de grande valeur.<\/p>\n<p>Les approches conventionnelles pour l\u2019\u00e9valuation \u00e9cologique, tels que l\u2019\u00e9chantillonnage direct et l\u2019observation visuelle\/acoustique, sont co\u00fbteuses et souvent impr\u00e9cises. L\u2019\u00e9chantillonnage \u00ab capture et observation \u00bb, le tri et l\u2019identification individuelle des organismes sont fastidieux et exigeants en main-d\u2019\u0153uvre. Il est aussi parfois nocif ou perturbateur pour des esp\u00e8ces rares ou en danger de disparition. Par ce programme de Supergrappe des oc\u00e9ans du Canada, le syst\u00e8me OceanDNA permettra non seulement de surmonter ces limitations avec sa technologie novatrice, mais aussi de commercialisera la solution sur les march\u00e9s mondiaux, g\u00e9n\u00e9rer une nouvelle activit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique, cr\u00e9er de nouveaux emplois et de nouvelles possibilit\u00e9s, tout en aidant \u00e0 positionner le Canada en tant que chef de file mondial en g\u00e9nomique de l\u2019oc\u00e9an.<\/p>\n<p>Supergrappe des oc\u00e9ans du Canada change la fa\u00e7on dont on m\u00e8ne des activit\u00e9s oc\u00e9aniques.
