Canada’s Ocean Supercluster is leading the development of a national Blue Bioeconomy Strategy for Canada. Over the past year, consultations with industry leaders, researchers, and government partners have shaped a shared understanding of the sector’s potential. The resulting Insights Report captured opportunities, challenges, and priorities from across Canada. In this interactive workshop, participants will reflect on those findings and help shape the next phase of strategy development—focused on seizing Canada’s opportunity to lead in the sustainable growth of the Blue Bioeconomy. Together, we’ll identify practical next steps and build momentum for a thriving, innovation-driven ocean sector.

Demystifying intellectual property (IP), with a bite-sized workshop on patents, using the Smucker’s “Uncrustables®” story as an example.  This session will provide SMEs with a primer on patents as well as provide a general overview of the strategic power of developing a robust IP strategy to build business value and drive growth.

To provide attendees with an overview of patent fundamentals and highlight the essential role that a robust IP strategy can play in fueling growth and driving value for an SME. Tips provided from IP experts on crafting a robust IP strategy to strategically harness an SME’s intellectual capital.
