The conference is a biennial event held to highlight and promote the growth of the domestic marine transportation industry in British Columbia. The conference is sponsored by the Council of Marine Carriers which was formed in 1975 when the BC Towboat Owners Association and the Towboat Industrial Relations Committee joined together as a non profit organization to ensure the industries technical and labour interests were protected and advanced.

The proceeds of the three day conference go entirely to support the CMC’s scholarship program. There are 3 ways to attend and support the conference, as a sponsor, an exhibitor, or a delegate.
